This year’s theme, Honoring Legacy, Defending Our Future, recognizes the generations of immigrants, workers, volunteers, organizers, and community leaders whose courage and commitment built the foundation we stand on today. It also reminds us that our future depends on what we choose to build together.

Cultural and Social Events
Providing cultural and social opportunities is an important part of what Centreville Immigration Forum offers the community we serve. Bringing together people of diverse backgrounds is a primary part of our mission. To accomplish this, we have several regular events, as well as special events throughout the year. This builds community and also a sense of belonging and ownership within the community to promote civic engagement.
Faith Leaders’ Breakfast
Each February, clergy and lay leaders from the faith community gather to enjoy a hot breakfast, learn more about CIF programs, and meet some of the workers who use the Labor Center to find work. The religious community has always been a great supporter of our work. Aside from financially sustaining our operations, we have made lasting connections with volunteers, mission groups, and individuals who give back to their community through their service at CIF. We are also thankful to count on our faith communities who collectively provide invaluable resources to our community through direct assistance, medical aid, and other important aid.
Mother’s & Father’s Day Celebration
Many in our community are separated from their children, who are being cared for by relatives in their home country. Each year we have a celebration to honor their role as mothers. The celebration also includes families and single men who are missing their own mothers. In addition to food and music, there is a raffle for gifts and sometimes the event ends with impromptu dancing!
Holiday Party
Holidays can be a lonely time for those who are far away from family, so a gathering with food and music can lift spirits when work is slow and money is tight. Our holiday parties include families and opportunities to give to the kids of the community. Through building this sense of belonging the community feels empowered to participate and advocate for themselves.
